In this census Jacob and Susanna Wehr are living next to Susannah’s son, John Wetle. The census incorrectly records John’s name as “Vedley”, not an uncommon occurrence since the German “W” sounds like our “V”.

Susanna (Susan) BRANDSCHEID 1810-?

Susanna (Susan) BRANDSCHEID was born on 15 Jan 1810 in Oberweis, Rheinland, Prussia, GERMANY. In 1828 she married Mathias WATLE (WADLE,WATHLET). At least eight children were born to Mathias and Susanna. Anna, born 1829; Ludovicus, born 1831; Angela, born 1834; Klemens, born 1838; Johann Henry, born 1839; Magdalena, born 1842; Elizabeth, born 1845; and Jakob, born 1848.

In 1852 Susanna married a second time to Jakob WEHR. They immigrated to St Cloud Minnesota (date unknown). Several of Susanna's children, including Anna, Clement, John and Jacob also immigrated to St. Cloud. Daughters Elizabeth, and Helena (Magdalena ?) are also listed as emigrating but I have no futher information on them at this time.

Several years ago I was working with a team to publish the history and genealogy of the Rinehart family.

Winnie, another member of the team, had spent many years compiling data on this and other branches of her husband’s ancestral lines.

A few years after the Rinehart project was completed I began to assist Winnie in her search for her own family lines. Part of that search involved the Ohlegschlager family. The Ohlegschlagers were not blood lines to her but her father was adopted into the family and Winnie looked on the Ohlegschlagers as her Grandparents, aunts and uncles and cousins.

The eldest Ohlegschlager daughter, Lena, married Jacob Wetle. As I worked to compile the Wetle portion of the Ohlegschlager family I continually found information on a separate Wetle family residing in the same area. It became clear that there was a close relationship between these families and soon I had a substantial amount of information on both families.

After communicating with some members of the family it seemed a waste to simply store the information away in a file box. A BLOG seemed the perfect vehicle for sharing the information I had found.

I have not proven the information but I will endeavor to provide my sources so you can validate and follow through for yourself.
